Wilderless is a game that makes me go back to reading about the definition of a concept that I think I already understand: Indie games (Independent video games). These are independent video games, developed and produced by individuals or small groups, without the big investment in budget or media hype like the big studios.
And because it is made from start to finish by one or a group of developers, most Indie games are their “guts”. Worldviews, visions, thoughts, concerns, obsessions or even things that cannot be done in the real world of an individual are brought here, more clearly and separately than ever before.
Sometimes even games are made just to satisfy a certain desire, regardless of whether it has an audience or is someone willing to spend money to buy it to play or not. Wilderless is such a bold Indie game. I want to call this the game of love. The game is made by a single anonymous person, no support team, no organization, just like yourself content and nature of the game.
Wilderless is a world for wounded souls
I use the word “content and nature” rather than “plot and gameplay” for a reason. In Wilderless, you don’t have any enemies, no quests, no team burdens, no puzzles, no anything including noise, damage or loss. There are only moments of relaxation, true peace in the mountains, sunsets, rivers, flowers, and anything else that can help you open your mind.
You are any girl, or any guy, choose any look you like, an outfit you want to wear the most, and hit the road. You can move anywhere, any direction in an open space of the vast wild world that seems to have no end. It reminds me of a fantasy movie in which the characters lived a very perfect life until one of them suddenly discovered the horizon that was a long column of numbers, proving The world they live in is just a perfect imitation of the more radical species. I was thinking, if I really entered the character in this game, and decided to go to the end, would this world still be as perfect as a dream?
