Introducing ESWAT: City Under Siege Classic
ESWAT: City Under Siege Classic is not just a video game anymore, it’s a whole sky of memories about legendary 16-bit titles once associated with each child’s childhood.
Sometimes, you only know shooting games like Contra or Metal Slug, without knowing that before that, ESWAT City Under Siege was born and was one of the first 16bit games in the world.
Familiar plot
ESWAT City Under Siege Classic is a side-scrolling game quite similar to Shinobi. In the future context, the player will transform and control a blonde policeman named Duke Oda, a rookie of the Cyber police force in Liberty City. In this game, your mission will be to fight against the criminal gangs, bring peace to Liberty City – which is in turmoil due to many street gangs appearing. Only you, the cop wearing the electric ICE Combat Suit, can put an end to the escalating street violence.
How to play
This title has many levels, in the first and second levels of the game, Duke Oda is completely human and can only use a shotgun and only needs the enemy to launch a shot or two hits will kill him. By the end of level 2, Duke Oda will receive the ICE Combat Suit and this armor will give your character a variety of new weapons such as rockets, plasma, Super Shot… and good damage tolerance. than. But this armor also makes you bigger, move slower, so it will be more difficult to avoid attacks from enemies.
ESWAT: City Under Siege Classic is not exactly a new development from the ground up, this game uses the SEGA Forever emulator core to bring 16bit titles to the mobile platform, with high performance and lots of customization. The control in the game is the only thing that makes me unhappy when playing ESWAT: City Under Siege Classic on the phone. If only I had a real MFi controller, because the virtual keys on the game’s screen are quite difficult to use and inhibit because they are located quite close together and are easy to press by mistake. This virtual key set includes a navigation pad and 3 function buttons: a button to activate your weapon, a button to jump and a button to activate your jet.
Even after getting used to the control system and having played ESWAT City Under Siege before, this game still proved to be quite difficult. The character after wearing the armor is not agile, the amount of bonuses earned is quite meager, while the enemies can appear unexpectedly and cause you to be injured. If you are defeated, you will lose the weapon you are using and will have to find it again during the game.
Bold graphics 16bit
Online games often make a name for themselves by applying high-tech graphics and sound techniques. And ESWAT: City Under Siege Classic also does it pretty well even with only 16bit graphics. But don’t expect anything really lively about this game at all. In the first levels you can see buildings with nice detail & lighting, but things get worse in later levels, the background seems repetitive and very little variety or change. However, I still quite like the dark feeling of the game. Explosion effects, animations are displayed well with sound effects afterwards.
As for the sound in the game, there are some pretty good music, although not too complicated, but these sounds still create an attraction for themselves.
