Catalyst Black is a 10v10 battle royale shooter, with gameplay combined with the mechanics of a MOBA game. You control your character with the on-screen Joystick keys, fighting and completing your goals, depending on the mode you choose. Regarding the details of the modes, I will mention them below.
As you can imagine, Catalyst Black’s battles are like a MOBA match, and both teams only use AD carry. You control the character through a top-down perspective. Each player can use two weapons Primary and Heavy. Heavy gun is like a character skill, it has more damage, but needs cooldown and power accumulation to use.
You can transform into a giant beast for a few seconds, getting a huge boost in health and damage (just like League of Legends’ Gnar). If you run out of health or you deactivate, you will return to your human form. However, when in monster form, you can only attack enemies with close range hand attacks, while your enemies all use ranged guns. If you are not in a favorable position, you can easily become a cannon fodder and be kite to death. There’s a trick that you should know, you can’t die in monster form. If you run out of health, you will return to your human form. Therefore, when almost dead, you use this skill will almost outplay the enemy and make your enemy feel surprised. Select shapes and skills for monsters by changing your Mask.
Take advantage of the bushes to your advantage and your teammates. Because the enemy can’t see you when you hide in the bushes, you easily create situations to organize ganks and lure the enemy into traps.
A variety of modes for you to compete with your friends
Capture the Flag: This is Catalyst Black’s most played mode. In this mode, you and your teammates need to capture the flag in the opponent’s base, and bring it back to yours. The distance is very long, and your opponent respawns after 3 seconds. These matches can last up to 40 minutes if all players are experienced and skilled. In general, you need to have a good strategy and coordinate with 9 teammates if you want to win. The player with the best level should be the one holding the flag to the base, and the rest have the task of protecting him.
Flag Hunter: Your team must defeat monsters anywhere on the map, then defend the flag from enemies for 30 to 75 seconds to score points. This mode is quite similar to Capture the Flag, except that the flag is not at the opponent’s base but anywhere on the map. Hot spots on the map are where constant skirmishes occur, because you need to be there to protect the flag instead of bringing it back to your base.
Core Rush: Kill the Keepers, then collect their cores to score points.
Currently, Catalyst Black does not have a rating system. But the extremely fierce matches are enough for you to immerse yourself in the game. Each game mode has its own tutorial, you need to complete it before starting a real match.
