Opening scene
Castle of Illusion begins with Minnie’s kidnapping. Based on the signs left, Mickey has found the culprit, which is the evil witch Mizrabel. She is trying to steal Minnie’s youth to become more beautiful.
Mickey has entered the castle of illusions to rescue Minnie. When meeting with the owner of the castle, he informed that Mickey needs to collect 7 jewels that are hidden in the 7 illusion worlds of Mizrabel. What will Mickey have to do, when 7 stones are being guarded by Mizrabel’s henchmen?
Adventure with Mickey
Castle of Illusion has stages. You will go through each stage with Mickey in turn, and complete a number of goals given by the system to unlock new stages. The 7 gems that Mickey needs to find are hidden in 6 worlds, corresponding to 6 levels The Enchanted Forest, Toyland, The Storm, Dessert Factory, The Library, and The Castle.
Mickey will face a lot of difficulties in his quest to collect gems. Most of them come from Mizrabel’s minions, such as poisonous mushrooms, steel knights and toy soldiers. If you accidentally touch them, the character will be injured and you have to play the level again from the beginning.
Fight and win glory
The battles in Castle of Illusion are quite light. The character does not use weapons, instead jumps to defeat the enemy. The mechanics are quite similar to Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros series. You will control Mickey and jump on top of enemies to bring them down. For this reason, the game is rated for people three years of age and older. The content has no fight scenes, no gore and no violence.
However, the challenges keep increasing. Sometimes you will have to be alone against two steel knights standing side by side. If your jump lacks accuracy, you lose. In some other cases, the path leading to the transition door was blocked by poisonous mushrooms. You cannot jump up and remove them, because they are protected by the rock above their heads. At this point, you need red apples. These apples appear along the way. While they don’t give you an achievement score, they can be used to throw at other mushrooms, causing them to disappear.
In addition, on the map also appear diamonds. They are lined up along stages, acting as items that guide you to the next stage. So, follow these diamonds, collect them to score achievements.
