Game mode
Battle of Polytopia features two campaigns: single player and multiplayer.
In the single-player campaign, you’ll battle the game’s AI. There are two game modes for you to choose from, including Perfection and Domination.
Perfection is limited to thirty plays. In it, you have to try to score points to overcome the opponent, and win. This mode is quite short, wrapped up in 10 minutes. You can play right in your break or before going to bed to feel more relaxed.
Domination lasts a little longer, as you must defeat all other enemies, other civilizations in turn and become the sole ruler. Personally, I prefer this mode, because it is more challenging and gives a sense of drama.
In the multiplayer campaign, your opponents are real players. Of course, you need a stable internet connection to be able to access the shared server. This campaign also has two sub-modes, Might and Glory.
Glory mode is like a score race. In which, the goal is 10,000 points. Whichever player reaches this score first, they win. Glory has huge appeal, especially with a strategy game like Battle of Polytopia. Every player tries to restrain each other’s growth to rise up. You will spend a lot of time to win, if you do not have a long-term and optimal development strategy.
Might mode brings a fierce war between the tribes. Only the strongest, most advanced, and fastest growing civilizations are capable of dominating. Never be subjective, because other civilizations can strengthen overnight. The goal in Might is to conquer the tribes and unify the entire land.
In addition, you also need to know that the single player campaign is provided for free. Meanwhile, you will have to pay to experience the multiplayer campaign.
Grow your tribe
At the start of the war in the Battle of Polytopia, you will take command of a tribe. Your goal is to unlock, upgrade and develop technology to build the most advanced civilization. Technologies will bring powerful resources to help you defeat other tribes in the game.
Technology can be purchased in each match. You will have to build cities to collect stars – the main currency in the game. You can also get some special technology when you win competitions with other tribes.
Cities are at the core of Battle of Polytopia. They are like a harvestable resource. You will receive the number of stars corresponding to the level of that city. Therefore, focus on developing and upgrading them to get more stars.
In addition, you also need to pay attention to the quest system. When you complete them, you can get stars, or buildings that help improve your city.
Turn-based tactical gameplay
The opening part of Battle of Polytopia is quite similar to the legendary game Age of Empires. Your tribe initially only has a single unit. You can take them to lands on the map to search and gather resources. The map will also be covered with fog. Soldiers will have to navigate their way to find resources and also the location of other tribes.
Unlock unique tribes
Battle of Polytopia features 15 different tribes. 4 of them are provided for free, the remaining 11 tribes will be unlocked with money.
