Introducing Angry Birds Journey
Angry Birds Journey, formerly known as Angry Birds Casual, is a slingshot puzzle game released in March 2020 by publisher Rovio Entertainment. It is the nineteenth game in the Angry Birds series and the eleventh game to use the slingshot gameplay in the series.
In December 2020, the game was removed from the AppStore and Google Play to change the name to Angry Birds Journey. By January 14, 2021, the game was officially back on Google Play. It is quite unfortunate for players in Asia that currently the game is only released in North America and some European countries.
How to play
As mentioned above, Angry Birds Journey is a slingshot game. Players will have to drag the rubber with the birds on it to aim. The game will include 3 parts with different contexts and missions, including:
- Chapter 1: Ancient Ruins
- Chapter 2: Crystal Mountains
- Chapter 3: Gaia’s Challenge
Not only that, the publisher will also be launching a new part with more difficult challenges for players.
How is Angry Birds Journey different from Angry Birds games?
One thing that makes Angry Birds Journey different from previous games is that the levels will not be replayable, the levels will continue to follow each other. Therefore, the star rating feature of all levels has also been removed. Besides, the game uses the drawing style of Angry Birds Dream Blast, another game in the Angry Birds series, but follows the match-3 puzzle genre. The game promises to give players a new experience compared to previous slingshot games.
Not only has the appearance changed, the way to activate the power of the birds has also been changed. When touching the fortress of the pig herd, the power will automatically be activated. Players can no longer activate the power of birds by tapping on the screen like in Angry Birds 2.

The power of each type of bird
You can still meet cute birds, familiar characters of the Angry Birds series. However, Angry Birds Journey has a new mode. After each turn, the player will be added an amount of energy. When full, the birds will become stronger than their normal state and deal more damage. Here is information about the special power of each bird:
- Chuck: When touching a fortress, Chuck will clone and launch another distance, dealing damage to all structures passed.
- Bomb: On contact, Bomb will explode and deal damage around.
- Silver: After hitting the ground Silver will pierce the structures below and deal damage.
- Stella: On contact, Stella will create a bubble that lifts all touchable objects. After 1.5 seconds all will fall to the bottom.
- Red: After touching fortress Red will cause a commotion, crashing into 5 random targets and dealing damage to them.
The game also appears the poor, baby Hatchlings birds. Those birds are being held in iron cages by the wicked Piglets. They are in need of rescue. In addition, some Hatchlings were frozen in ice cubes. You have to destroy the surrounding obstacles for the light to melt the ice block.
The character is still Piglets, but in Angry Birds Journey, the pigs appear in a more childish version of themselves. There are 2 types of Piglets in the game with different looks including cubes and circles. Don’t let their cute looks make you subjective, these pigs are very naughty and destructive!
Graphics
The graphics of Angry Birds Journey do not disappoint when the image has become much more elaborate and meticulous than previous games. The use of Angry Birds Blast’s style also makes the characters cuter and closer to the player.
